Based on the success of our 2007 Dry Creek Valley Syrah, we once again took the “blending” route to increase the complexity of this wine. The Viognier was cofermented with the Syrah to increase color and aromatics while the Grenache was blended in post malolactic fermentation for body and texture. The result? Easily our best Dry Creek Syrah to date. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note: Very dark ruby-purple. Compelling aromas of blackberry, plum, and apricot (the Viognier?) are intertwined with notes of charcoal, and herbs. The wine enters full and rich, with flavors of blackberry, smoke, and gardenia. More approachable than the 2007 but with plenty of structure to age, this wine should be at its best between 2013 and 2022. (MRO – 08/01/10)
