When we say “old vines,” we mean it!  This wine is a blend of 61% Saitone Ranch, planted in 1895, and 39% Banfield Ranch, planted in 1881.  We had anticipated bottling both these Zinfandels separately but we discovered that a blend of the two made for a better wine.  Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this wine represents absolutely screamin’ QPR, perhaps even more so than our Sonoma County Zin and Syrah.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “Back the truck up!”  A Zinfandel that competes way above its price point.

Tasting Note:

Medium-dark to dark ruby.  An intense and very pure nose of black raspberry, boysenberry, licorice, and spice. The wine enters full and rich with a kaleidoscope of red and black berry flavors marked by a hint of tobacco.  Ample acidity kicks in at the mid-palate while youthful tannins emerge in mineral-laden, energetic finish.  Exceptionally balanced with no trace of alcoholic heat.  Enjoy from 2016 though 2024.
