As in previous vintages, the majority of Zinfandel for this wine comes from Ray Teldeschi’s “mother block” (planted c. 1885) with the balance sourced from Rich Mounts’ ranch directly across the valley. While each ranch produces outstanding Zinfandel in its own right, like Astaire and Rogers, there’s something magical when the two come together. Five percent Petite Sirah and 2% Carignane were included for mouth-feel and structure.

Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

Tasting Note:

Medium-dark to dark garnet-ruby. Scents of ripe red cherries are mixed with hints of iron and dusty, red earth. Quintessential Dry Creek. Full-bodied on entry but with ample acidity. Not at all fat and ponderous. Optimum drinking should be from release through 2012. (MRO – 03/10/09)
