Using organically grown Syrah and Mourvèdre from the Rossi Ranch in Sonoma Valley, we found that blending in Syrah from Ray Teldeschi’s vineyard in Dry Creek Valley produced a wine of great intensity and concentration.  But aromatically, something was missing.  Fortunately, we discovered the solution – 6% Rosella’s Syrah and 13% Bennett Valley Syrah.  Both of these components added intriguing notes of violet, white pepper, and spice.  In the end, a killer Syrah.  And even better, at a killer price!  Unfined and unfiltered.

Sonoma County Syrah

Tasting Note:

Very dark ruby-purple.  Verging on opaque.  Precise, pure aromas of blackberry, sage, and spice.  Quite poised on the palate, with plenty of mouth-watering black fruits that persist into the violet-tinged finish.  For all its explosiveness, displays remarkable finesse and elegance.  To borrow an old phrase, an iron fist in a velvet glove!  Enjoy 2013 through at least 2022.
