Both Carlisle Vineyard and Montafi Ranch suffered greatly in the heat of August 24th, each losing approximately 80% of the crop.  But after rigorous sorting, what remained was of great quality.  Not wanting yet again more small lots (a theme of 2010 and an allocation nightmare), on a whim, we decided to see how a blend of the two would work.  Bada-bing, bada-boom!  Magic!  And best of all, a wine we can now offer everyone!  Thirty percent new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note:

Medium-dark to dark ruby. Whoa! Knock-out aromas of cherry, berry compote, and white figs. I could smell this all night long! Rich and full-bodied, the wine explodes on the palate with red and black fruits. Despite the forwardness of this wine, ample tannins and acidity keep the wine fresh on the palate, drawing you back for another sip. Enjoy from mid-2013 through 2018. (MRO – 07/18/12)
