Yowsers! We sure wish we had more of this wine but alas, production was a mere 66 cases. Like our 2002 Pet, this year’s rendition is completely from the Unti Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. On the skins for 35 days and pressed into 100% new French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Black as night. Totally opaque. Aromas of blueberry, Chinese five-spice, and rich loamy earth. Full bodied, creamy, almost viscous. The concentration is so immense that there’s no indication of the new oak. Typical Pet tannins build on the finish. While certainly age-worthy, we prefer our Pets on the young side and would recommend enjoying this from late 2006 through 2012. (MRO – 1/28/06)
