Yields in this restored 1910 vineyard were 1.7 tons to the acre in 2006. Picked October 26th, the must was cold-soaked for five days before a “native” fermentation began. After 16 days on the skins, the wine was pressed to all French oak, 28% new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Dark ruby-red. An incredibly seductive, intoxicating nose of tree bark, blood orange, meat, iron, cardamom, and olive. On the palate, full-bodied and mouth coating, with a Häagen Dazs-like intensity. Way too easy to slurp now (especially if thrown into a decanter) but will benefit with age. Certainly one of our finest Two Acres. Drink from 2009 through 2018. (MRO – 10/30/08)
