2011 Sonoma Valley "Bedrock Vineyard" Zinfandel
92% Zinfandel
8% Mixed Black Varieties (Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet)
Our third vintage of Zinfandel from the historic Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma Valley and by far my favorite. This wine was sourced from two blocks, both planted in 1888. The first block was picked September 19th while the second, containing more in the way of mixed blacks, was picked on September 22nd. Each lot was fermented indigenously and the following spring, after malolactic fermentation completed, blending trials were done to determine the perfect blend of the two. The resulting wine was lightly egg white fined to round out the palate but bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Medium-dark ruby. Seductive aromas of peach, blood orange, raspberry, and cherry ooze from the glass. This is quite the sniff! On entry, the most incredible, sexy texture, like having the finest silk flowing gently over your skin. The aromas carry through to the palate with peach and blood orange becoming especially prominent. Phew! I think I need a cigarette! ;-) Enjoy this very sensual wine from release through 2018.
