2014 Russian River Valley "Limerick Lane Vineyard" Zinfandel
98% Zinfandel
2% Mixed Black Varieties (Petite Sirah, Peloursin, Trousseau noir)
Despite being in the Russian River AVA, with its well-drained soils and close proximity to Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys, our fruit from the 1910 block was picked on August 30th at 24.2 Brix. This was essentially a “do-nothing” wine – no adjustments, indigenous fermentation, no fining or filtration. We like it when it’s this easy!
Tasting Note:
Medium-dark ruby. Immediately approachable, marrying the best qualities of Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley Zins, from this relatively warm eastern reach of the appellation. Nose of spice cake and Bing cherry. Sumptuous on the palate with boysenberry, ripe cherry and red raspberry. The wine’s structure is friendly with a refreshingly juicy finish that invites a second glass (or two). Drink 2017 – 2025. (JCM – 07/18/16)
