2014 Sonoma Valley "Bedrock Vineyard" Mourvèdre
100% Mourvèdre
Picked September 22nd at 24.3 Brix, the fruit was fully destemmed and cold soaked for five days before being inoculated for fermentation. Pressed after 14 days on the skins, the wine was put into all previously used, neutral French oak barrels. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 14 months of aging.
Tasting Note:
On the nose, plum, cherry, tomato leaf and sweet spices (allspice, cardamom and clove) – becoming even spicier with air. The wine enters deliciously fresh, with ripe blueberry and plum before turning juicy and savory from the mid-palate through the finish where a touch of orange pith appears. Tannin and oak are in check, but a little aging should help to further develop flavors and provide the ultimate rewards. These vines have been in the ground for 127 years, so they understand that patience is a virtue. Drink 2019 – 2025. (JCM – 07/18/16)
