2019 Sonoma County Zinfandel
53% Sonoma Valley Zinfandel
42% Russian River Valley Zinfandel
3% Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah
2% Sonoma Valley Alicante Bouschet
Once again, our Sonoma County Zinfandel rocks and delivers far more enjoyment and complexity than one would expect in a wine at this price point. For the base, we blended one of my favorite sections of Rossi Ranch, Schumacher Hill, with the 100-plus-year-old Zinfandel and mixed blacks of Sanchietti Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Next, we found that blending in some of our Piner-Olivet Ranches Zinfandel really kicked things up a notch. Did we stop there? No way! A bit of our Pagani Alicante Bouschet and Mounts Petite Sirah elevated the wine even higher. How could the result be anything but delicious? Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Medium to medium-dark ruby-red. A perfumed nose of red cherry, briar, and brown tobacco leaf. Classic Zinfandel! Medium-full to full-bodied on the palate, flavors of cherry, red currant, and peppery spice build through the long and softly tannic finish. A wine Iād be happy to drink any day of the week, even twice on Sunday! Enjoy from release through 2028. (MRO - 01/05/21)
