2022 Sonoma Valley "Pagani Ranch" Zinfandel
94% Zinfandel with a sprinkling of mixed black varieties (Petite Sirah, Carignan, Mission, Grand Noir, and others)
6% Alicante Bouschet
Pagani Ranch is located in a relatively cool section of Sonoma Valley, certainly cooler than where Bedrock and Old Hill lie. Therefore, when the heatwave struck on September 6th, it was considerably behind other vineyards. But nestled up to hills on the west side that provided some relief from the hot afternoon sun, it handled the heatwave like a champ. Our Zin blocks planted in the 1890s and our Alicante block planted in 1920 were picked on the same day, September 17th. The fruit was fully destemmed, cold soaked for five days, and pressed after 23 days in tank to all French oak, 17% new. As always. unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note:
Beautiful, shimmering pigeon blood-ruby. An inviting, even comforting, perfumed nose of Alpine strawberries, raspberries, and spice makes you drop your shoulders, relax, and think, “Ahhhh! Life is good!” A glycerin-laden entry leads to flavors of red berries and loamy earth while acidity gently builds in the finish to leave the mouth refreshed and wanting more. A Pagani of unusual elegance, finesse, and harmony. Enjoy from release through 2035. (MRO - 01/16/25)
